Outreach Workshops

School and Community group workshops are tailored to the individual needs and preferences of each group. The workshops aim to utilise the creative process to increase wellbeing, group connection, insight and empathy. There are many benefits and outcomes that are achieved through creative art therapy workshops.

Symbols for Wellbeing

Aim
To allow participants a space to connect with, identify and reflect on their personal symbols.

Objectives
To create a safe space for exploration
To identify judgements that may be present around what “art” is, and introduce art therapy as exploring rather than outcome.
To connect with their own symbols using pastels and collage
To create something as a reminder for their own symbols
To show how symbols can be used as a tool for wellbeing

Space Requirements
A large quiet and uniterrupted private space, tables and chairs, access to a sink after the workshop, a sound system or speaker
The room will need to be accessed 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the workshop.

Participant Requirements
Participants are asked to bring a personal symbol or item that is important to them. This could be a photo, a trinket or anything significant to them as a person.

Staff Requirements
One staff member is asked to be present during the session. Confidentiality is set up between the participants, and facilitation will be tailored to the group context. If any issues arise, the group will be facilitated to contain the experience and provide safety. The staff member present will be required to follow up with the relevant participants, and manage any referrals as required.
